Women's Slump Continues

The women's basketball team exchanged leads with SUNY Adirondack throughout the game on Saturday but faltered down the stretch and lost 59-53 in Queensbury. The Hornets had three players in double figures led by the freshman trio of Sam Acuna with 15 points, Graci Standish-Warpus added 14 points and Ana Farahane had 13 points. Courtney Petticoffer had another solid game for the Hornets, scoring 8 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, dishing out 5 assists and adding a block and steal to her lines.

Despite losing leading scorer Farahane early in the first quarter to foul trouble, Broome went into the half down by one, 28-27. Both teams exchanged leads throughout the third quarter and, this time the Hornets came out on top, 42-41. The last quarter saw more of the same but the host team hit 8 out of 10 free throws to close out the game. The Timberwolve's Kayla Prosser led all scorers with 19 points.

The Hornets are now off until January 12th when they begin MSAC play against Finger Lakes CC in Canandaigua.
