Women Drop Two In Crossover Classic Against Division II Teams

The women's basketball team dropped both games in the Crossover Classic held in Jamestown over the weekend, losing to Jamestown CC on Saturday, and Genesee CC on Sunday. 

On Saturday the Hornets fell to the Jayhawks from Jamestown by a score of 73-42.  After a slow start in the first quarter, Broome responded with a 19-17 advantage in the second to go into halftime trailing 35-27.  The third quarter began with Broome scoring the first six points to draw within two but it was all Jamestown after that.  Nine of the ten Broome players got in the scoring column against the D II school, led by Isabella LoVuolo with 11 points.  Brenna Gioffe had 7 points and 7 boards and, Glory Thomas, Miya Ritchie and Keyairra Woolfolk all chipped in with 5 points apiece.  Julianna Mushalla continued to lead in the assist department with 5.  Jamestown received a balanced effort in the matchup which was evident by three players scoring 16 points apiece.

Broome fared no better on Sunday facing their second D II team in as many days, falling 83-49 to the Cougars from Genesee CC.  Broome was able to keep the contest within two after the first quarter, 19-17, but that was as close as the game would be.  Mushalla led in assists with 4, and points with 11.  LoVuolo added 10 points and 3 assists, Glory Thomas had 9 points and 3 blocks, and Kasey Krewson had 8 points and 2 blocks.  Anna Hotalen led on the boards with 11 and added 6 points to her line.  Talia Burgess led all scorers with 27 points, 15 of them coming from the 3-point arc.

Broome will head over to Davis College on Wednesday for a 5:00 P.M. tipoff against the Falcons.
