Hot Shooting Propels Women To Home Victory

The Hornets hosted Cayuga CC on Thursday evening in the Baldwin Gymnasium and came out on top, 88-75 in a MSAC contest, thanks to some hot shooting and several collegiate highs.  The Spartans took the early 5-0 in the first quarter before Isabella LoVuolo and Kasey Krewson combined for four 3-pointers and a 24-14 lead.  The 3-ball prevailed again in the second quarter, this time it was LoVuolo and Julianna Mushalla that combined for four more and a 44-31 halftime lead.  Broome hit eight three's in the first half, with the hot hand belonging to LoVuolo, hitting 6 of her 8 attempts. 

The second half belonged to Anna Hotalen and the inside game.  Hotalen scored 25 of her collegiate high 35 points after the half, including a 9-12 performance at the charity stripe. She also posted her fourth straight double-double by grabbing 20 rebounds.  LoVuolo and Mushalla combined for three more 3-pointers in the second half.

The game also produced collegiate highs for Mushalla with 14 assists, and Lovuolo with 28 points, 24 of those points by way of the 3-ball.  Mushalla finished with 11 in the scoring column for her first double-double of the season, and added 5 rebounds and 2 steals to her winning effort.  LoVuolo added 5 assists and 8 boards to her totals, and Krewson finished with 7 points, 3 assists and 2 blocks.
