Hornets Suffer Loss At Home

Two Broome players starting the offense
vs Tompkins Cortland

The women's basketball team fell to Tompkins Cortland CC on Friday night, 68-66, in a MSAC matchup played in the Baldwin Gymnasium.  Isabella LoVuolo hit a 3-pointer with just a little over ten seconds remaining to put the Hornets up by one, 66-65, before the Panther's Taylor Day hit an uncontested jumper seconds later at the free throw line and a lead the visitors would hang on to for good.  Broome had a chance with just three seconds to go in the contest but a Miya Ritchie jumper from the short corner was off the mark.  The heartbreaking loss saw the Hornets fall to 8-12 overall; 3-4 MSAC while the Panthers improved to 7-7 overall; 5-3 MSAC.

LoVuolo led all scorers with 29 points, she also had 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists in the contest.  Three other players reached the double figure mark, Julianna Mushalla and Anna Hotalen each pitched in with 12 points and Kasey Krewson added 10 points.  Mushalla also contributed 8 assists and grabbed 7 boards, and Hotalen posted another double-double with 21 rebounds.  Day led TC3 with 16 points, none bigger than her last 2.

Broome travels to Watertown on Monday for a MSAC matchup against Jefferson CC with a scheduled 5:00 P.M. start time.
