Lead Slips Away On Road

The women's basketball team let a 7 point lead slip away late in the third quarter before falling to Penn State Wilkes-Barre, 67-58, in Lehman, PA on Wednesday night.  The first half was closely contested by both teams with four lead changes and five ties before Penn State took a one point lead into the half, 29-28.  The third quarter saw the Hornets go up by seven points midway through the frame before the host team rallied for a 51-43 lead going into the fourth.  Broome fought to get back in control in the final quarter but was forced to foul down the stretch and Penn State was able to hit some key free throws to seal the win.

Vivian Ladd posted a collegiate best in points and rebounds, scoring 28 points and grabbing 20 rebounds, to go with her 3 assists, 3 steals and 4 blocks against the four year school.   Anna Hotalen followed with 8 points and 16 boards, Calista Smith added 7 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals, and Kori Thornton contributed with 6 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

Broome will face the NJCAA's Division III #2 ranked team in the country, North Country CC, at 1:00 P.M. this Saturday in the Baldwin Gymnasium.
