Broome dropped two games over the weekend, the first one on the road Saturday to #9 Herkimer College, 83-44, the second at home on Sunday to Fulton-Montgomery, 72-55.  The NJCAA's 9th ranked Herkimer Generals took a 23-15 first quarter lead and never looked back.  The Hornets struggled in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, managing just 7 points in each frame.  Miya Ritchie led Broome scorers with 12 points, Vivian Ladd added 9 points, Anna Hotalen tallied 7 points and Vanessa Groover chipped in with 6 points in the losing effort.

On Sunday the Hornets didn't fair much better against the Raiders.  Again, Broome trailed at the end of one in Sunday's contest, 21-13, and never threatened Fulton except for a comeback bid in the 4th quarter that fell short of cutting the lead to single digits several times.  Ritchie again led Broome with 18 points, Ladd contributed 15 points, Calista Smith added 6 points and, Hotalen and Ashley Barnhart chipped in with 5 points each.  Hotalen grabbed a team high 9 boards and Ladd filled the lines with 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals and 2 blocks.

In the Hornets first eight games they have faced three Division II schools, three nationally ranked teams and one four year school to start their season 1-7.  Up next is another tough matchup against perennial power Mohawk Valley CC, currently 4-1 in Region III, after the Thanksgiving break on Wednesday, December 4th in Utica at 6:00 P.M.
