The women's basketball team fell 37-33 on the road to Cayuga in its season-opening game on Wednesday.
In a low scoring game by both sides offensively, the Hornets relied on their defense to keep them in the game. Broome supplemented that with some key scoring late to try and pull off the road win, but came up just short as its numerous chances to tie or take the lead were off the mark.
Sophia Pelton led the Hornets with nine points, six rebounds, and two steals. Sophia Ashman had six points, two rebounds, two steals, and an assist. Juliana Turner provided a spark off the bench with six points and four rebounds.
The Hornets will be on the road again tomorrow to take on Penn State Wilkes-Barre with a 1:00 p.m. tip-off.
