The women's soccer team cruised by Corning CC in their home opener Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field. The Hornets came out strong and dominated possession from the start in the 11-1 win. The Hornets outshot the Red Barons 29-6 in the MSAC contest. Rosemary Zelenyak (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) led Broome with 2 goals/5 assists from the attacking midfield spot. Additional goals were scored by Mikaela Mazzerole (Maryland, NY/Oneonta), Nicole Harmer (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta), Margaret Edwards (Brooklyn, NY/Leon M Goldstein) and a Hat Trick by Kaelyn Michitti (Binghamton, NY/Seton Catholic). Second half goals by defender Emily Caslin (Vestal, NY/Vestal) and Emily Cortese (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) rounded out the scoring. Goalkeeper Erinn Catlin (VanEtten, NY/Spencer-VanEtten) had 5 stops in net for SUNY Broome.

The Hornets (2-0) will host Niagara County CC at 1:00 PM this Saturday at Alumni Field.
