Women's Soccer Notch Another Win

The women's soccer team picked up a 5-0 win over Region III rival Mohawk Valley CC at Alumni Field this afternoon. Today's win was the Hornets third shutout in four games thus far and have outscored their opponents by a convincing total of 33-1.

Broome scored their first goal at 19:58 of the first period by Mikaela Mazerolle (Maryland, NY/Oneonta) off a corner by Kaelyn Michitti (Binghamton, NY/Seton Catholic) and an assist by Amanda Tersigni (Edmeston, NY/Edmeston). Tersigni had two goals of her own in the winning effort by the hosts. The scoring was rounded out by Rosemary Zelenyak (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) with 2 goals. The Hornets controlled the game by outshooting the Hawks 25-0 and held a 4-0 advantage on the corners. The defense again proved strong to guarantee the victory. Hayley Finelli (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) didn't get much action in net with 0 saves while the Hawks keeper, Courtney Sherry had 7.

Next up for the Hornets is a 12:00 PM match this Saturday in Saranac Lake against North Country CC.
