Women's Soccer Defeats MSAC Rival In Syracuse

The women's soccer team earned another win, this one a 4-0 victory on the road against MSAC rival Onondaga CC in Syracuse. The win against the Lazers marked the Hornets seventh shutout in their first ten games. Alexa Rudilosso (Centereach, NY/Centereach) had two goals to lead the Hornets, both on well earned shots from the top of the box. Kaelyn Michitti (Binghamton, NY/Seton Catholic) scored her team leading 15th goal off a beautifully placed cross at the top of the box. Rosemary Zelenyak (Binghamton, NY/Susquehana Valley) notched her team leading 8th and 9th assists in the match. The scoring was rounded out by Mikaela Mazerolle (Maryland, NY/Oneonta) in the 66th minute. The Hornets capitalized on their possessions working their way into the box for numerous quality chances while the defense contained the Lazers attack by allowing few quality chances on the visitors goal. Broome amassed 23 shots on goal to Onondaga's 6. Goalkeeper Erinn Catlin (VanEtten, NY/Spencer-VanEtten) had 5 saves for the visitors while host keeper Jillian Forenze stopped 10 shots.

The Hornets (10-0;5-0 MSAC) face a challenge this Saturday at 1:00 P.M. in Herkimer in a Region III matchup of nationally ranked teams. Broome is the 5th ranked team in the latest NJCAA Division III poll while Herkimer is at the 2nd spot.
