Women's Soccer Drops A Heartbreaker
In a matchup of NJCAA top 5 teams, SUNY Broome (#5) dropped its first game of the season to Herkimer College (#2) by a final score of 1-0 in Herkimer this afternoon. After hitting the post on a nice crossing shot by Nicole Harmer (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) in the first several minutes of the game, it appeared SUNY Broome had the upper hand, however it wasn't meant to be and the Hornets dropped the heartbreaker.  Broome controlled much of the play in the first half giving up only one shot on goal to the Generals and went into the half with the score tied at 0-0. At 68:16 of the second half Grace Johnson broke free in the box for Herkimer and rifled a shot by Broome keeper Erinn Catlin (VanEtten, NY/Spencer-VanEtten) who got a hand on the ball but not enough to keep it out of the net. That goal proved to be the game winner as it was the only goal of the game. The Hornets outshot the Generals 8-4 and were even at corner kicks with 3 apiece.

The Hornets (10-1;5-0 MSAC) are next in action on Wednesday against SUNY ESF in Syracuse at 7:00 P.M. and then finish the regular season with a four-game homestand.
