The women's soccer team defeated Hudson Valley CC 3-0 this afternoon and will advance to the NJCAA Region III Championships this Sunday at Wehrum Stadium in Herkimer, NY. Broome will face the winner of the Finger Lakes/Erie game. The #2 seed Hornets (14-1-2) outshot the #7 seed Vikings (9-6-2) by a tally of 25-4 on their way to their 12th shutout of the season behind the defensive efforts of Emily Caslin (Vestal, NY/Vestal), Emily Gibson (Johnson City, NY/Seton Catholic) and Brittany Campbell (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City). MSAC Player of the Year Rosemary Zelenyak (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) scored the first goal off an assist by Terry Peterson (Franklin, NY/Franklin) in the 35th minute.  Nicole Harmer (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) and Peterson tallied additional goals in the second half to seal the victory.
