Women's Soccer Cruises To Victory

The women's soccer team cruised to a 5-1 win over Herkimer College Saturday afternoon in a Region III matchup of the top two teams in Region III at Alumni Field in Binghamton. SUNY Broome (8-1) started off strong by controlling much of the play and not giving Herkimer (7-1) much room to operate.  Goals by Emiley Myers, Marissa Michitti, and Nicole Harmer gave the Hornets a 3-1 lead at half. Mikayla Blumenstock scored the only goal for the visitors in the first half.

The second half continued much the same way with SUNY Broome's defense not giving Herkimer any room to get into a rhythm. Kaelyn Michitti's quick trigger netted her team leading 19th and 20th goals of the season. Michitti scored in the 62nd minute and finished the scoring with her second in the 68th minute. Jolene Krom had two stops in goal for the host team while counterpart Honesti Cochran stopped nine shots for the visitors.

The Hornets are back at home on Wednesday for a 2:00 p.m. match against Onondaga CC (5-5) in a MSAC contest.
