Women Earn Another Shutout At Home

The women's soccer team defeated Hudson Valley CC 5-0 at home this afternoon in a Region III contest played on Alumni Field. The Hornets led off in the 12th minute as Kaelyn Michitti finished a bending cross from Emiley Myers for her NJCAA leading 32nd goal of the season. The first half ended with the Hornets up 1-0. Thirteen seconds into the second half Michitti fed a ball on the flank to Nicole Harmer who buried the long shot upping the score to 2-0.  Two minutes later Michitti had the favor returned as Harmer passed a ball across the box to the waiting Michitti who buried the shot and at the same time broke a long standing school record of total goals for her two seasons at 55.  The old record of 54 stood for 15 years. Mikaela Mazerolle and Marissa Michitti finished the scoring for the final score of 5-0. The Hornets (13-1) defense allowed the Vikings (6-8) only 1 shot on goal.

The Hornets travel to Buffalo to take on the Erie CC Kats on Friday for a 2:00 p.m. matchup of nationally ranked teams.
