National Powers Collide In Buffalo

The women's soccer team, ranked #1 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, came out of Buffalo with a 2-0 win over Erie CC, ranked #5 in the poll, on Friday afternoon in a hard fought battle. Goals by Kaelyn Michitti, the nations leading scorer, and Alexa Rudilosso were all the Hornets (14-1) needed.  Michitti started the scoring in the 15th minute by way of a successful penalty kick after a foul in the box. The balance of the half was toe to toe with neither team gaining an advantage.

The second half was a strong  start for the Hornets producing several good chances at the Erie (13-2) goal. SUNY Broome's Rudilosso added an insurance goal when she snuck into the box and finished a through ball from Erykah Edwards with a clean shot to the upper right netting. Jolene Krom picked up her 9th shutout of the year with seven saves and the Kats goalkeeper, Alex Zentz, had five stops in the match.

The Hornets will attempt to clinch the MSAC title against Tompkins Cortland CC at home on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
