Women's Soccer Team Wins In Double OT

The women's soccer team advanced to the District Finals this Saturday after defeating Mohawk Valley CC 1-0 in double overtime this afternoon at Alumni Field. In a hard fought contest typical of Mohawk Valley and Broome match ups, the Hornets took 33 shots but it took the second sudden death overtime to find the game winner. The Nation's leading scorer, Kaelyn Michitti, tucked away a perfect assist on a give and go in the box by Alexa Rudilosso to give the Hornets the edge. Emily Gibson, Brittany Campbell and Mikaela Mazerolle orchestrated another perfect game, the 11th shutout of the season, the stingy defense allowed no shots on goal or corner kicks.

SUNY Broome will take on the winner of Genesee vs. Herkimer in the Region III Championship game for the chance to go to the NJCAA National Tournament.  That game will be played at 1:00 p.m. this Saturday in Dryden on the stadium field at Tompkins Cortland CC.
