Women's Soccer Team Advances To National Tournament

Two late goals propelled the women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory against Herkimer College on Saturday and a spot in the 2016 NJCAA Division III National Championships. The Generals got on the board first, in the 36th minute when Hannah Taylor was awarded a free kick from 30 yards out and put a shot into the upper netting to give Herkimer a 1-0 lead which held up for the next 40 minutes. With their backs to the wall, Broome finally got the equalizer in the 76th minute from outside back Mikaela Mazerolle when she got into the opponents box and slipped one past goal keeper Honesti Cohran. Six minutes later Nicole Harmer found the winner when she received an assist from Emiley Myers 10 yards from goal and buried it.

Five SUNY Broome Players made the Region III All-Tournament Team....Jolene Krom, Harmer, Emily Gibson and MVP Mikaela Mazerolle.

The Hornets improved their record to 18-1 and are headed to the 2016 NJCAA Division III National Championships for the second consecutive year. The Championships run from November 10th - 13th in Toms River, NJ hosted by Ocean County College.
