Soccer Ends Three Game Skid

The women's soccer team defeated Clinton CC 5-2 in a Region III contest at home on Sunday afternoon to end a three game skid.  The Hornets controlled the game from start to finish with solid play at both ends of the field.  The scoring was started in the 9th minute by center midfielder Jordan McGinnis (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell) with a 20 yard scorcher to the lower right netting.  Allison O'Shea (Marathon, NY/Marathon) scored her team leading 13th and 14th goals, the first on a through ball by Marissa Michitti (Binghamton, NY/Seton) and the second by a header off a corner kick by McGinnis to give Broome (7-4-1) a 3-1 halftime lead

Two more goals in the second half rounded out the scoring, the first by Michitti and the second by Nicole Madison (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott).  The Hornets outshot the Cougars 25-2 and held the edge in corners 5-3.  Ellen Thew and Kim Ratliff scored a goal apiece for Clinton.  Kara Knickerbocker (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) totaled 3 saves in goal for the host team while her counterpart, Maggie Chauvin totaled 10.

Broome travels to Troy on Wednesday for a key Region III matchup against Hudson Valley CC scheduled for 6:00 P.M.
