Women Lose On The Road

The women's soccer team lost to Mohawk Valley CC, 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon in a Region III match that was contested from start to finish by both teams.  The Hawks (2-1) got got on the board first in the 28th minute when they were awarded a penalty kick on a  defensive call in the box.  The Hornets (4-1) answered in the 36th minute when Katelynn Griffiths finished a Linsey Howell corner kick knotting the score at 1-1 going in to the half time break.
 
The second half was hard fought by both sides.  Broome created a couple chances but couldn't find the go ahead goal.  At the 86:58 mark, Sydney Cook broke in to the box on a through ball from Macy Vitale and slotted the ball past Hornet keeper Paige Finch from close range to give the Hawks the win.  Broome continued to press hard last three minutes they could not find the equalizer.
 
The Hornets return home on Saturday for another Region III soccer match against North Country CC, scheduled to start at 1:00 P.M.
