Women Open Up 2019 Season With A Win

The women's soccer team opened their season Saturday on the road with a 6-0 win over Columbia-Greene CC.  The Hornets got off to a quick start with a pair of goals by Linsey Howell in the 4th minute and the 10th minute, both assisted by Katelynn Griffiths.  Howell and Griffiths both recorded two goals on the day with Griffiths recording three assists and Howell one.  Goals by Alissa Franco in the 14th minute and Kayla Kromelbein in the 48th minute rounded out the scoring.

The Hornets possessed the ball for a great portion of the game and had several more great scoring chances only the be stopped by a valiant effort from the Twins goalkeeper, Keegan Deyo who had 25 saves.  The Hornets goalkeepers, Leria Compeau and Rhiannon Beers combined for the shutout, stopping all four shots on goal.  Broome dominated in shots on goal, 31-4, and corner kicks, 9-1.
 
Up next game is a MSAC match against Corning CC on Wednesday at Alumni Field scheduled for a 4:30 start.
