The women's soccer team dropped their home opener by a score of 4-3 on Wednesday afternoon to Corning CC in a MSAC match played on Alumni Field.  The Red Barons started the scoring on a breakaway at 1:34 of the first half.  The Hornets quickly responded when Katelynn Griffiths put away a short cross from Lacey Cox.  At the 25:44 mark, Hannah Faulkner buried a through ball from Linsey Howell to put the Hornets up 2-1.  It proved to be a short lead when Corning tied it back up at 30:36, sending both teams into the half tied at 2-2.  Taryn Hayes had both first half goals for the Red Barons.

The second half was more of the same.  Howell had the lone goal off a cross from Griffiths in the 73rd minute for Broome but it wasn't enough to secure victory as Corning netted two goals for the final 4-3 tally.  The Hornets out shot the Red Barons 30-10 but couldn't find the game winner.  Leria Compeau had 8 saves in net for the Hornets
