Women Drop Home Match

Ball in mid air coming to Broome player
vs Mohawk Valley

Broome dropped the second match on Wednesday's twin bill against Mohawk Valley CC, by the identical 2-0 score in the men's game.  The Hornets played the Hawks, ranked #8 in the current NJCAA Division III Women's Soccer poll, to a 0-0 tie at the end of the first half.

The second showed marked improvements for the host team but two quick goals by Mohawk in the 48th and 49th minutes proved enough for the visitors win.  The remainder of the match saw both teams going back and forth with Broome getting off some quality shots on goal, including two that hit the crossbar...inches from scoring.  The Hornets were outplayed in the first half with the Hawks coming out on top in shots on goal, 11-0.  Broome responded in the second half and out shot the visitors 9-7 but couldn't find the back of the net.

Broome falls to 1-2 on the season while Mohawk improves to 2-0.  Up next is a match in North East, PA this Saturday at 2:00 P.M. against Division I Mercyhurst-North East.
