Women Win At Home In OT

Two Broome players at net scoring goal
vs Hudson Valley

Broome defeated Hudson Valley CC in a key Region III contest, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon in overtime.  The Hornets got on the board early with a goal in the 5th minute by Anastasia Rusnak off a double assist by Hannah Faulkner and Chloe Brauer.  Hudson Valley got the next two goals two minutes apart at 20:05 and again at 22:57 making the score 2-1 Vikings, going into the intermission.

The second half was a battle by both teams but in the 68th minute Faulkner finished a ball across the box from Kayla Kromelbein to knot the score at 2-2.  There were several chances by both teams in the back and forth battle but at full time but neither team could net the ball.  With the score still knotted at two apiece the teams had to settle the match in OT.

Three minutes into the overtime session, defensive back Olivia Pilotti secured a back pass from Faulkner and calmly rifled the ball in to the upper right hand corner, just out of reach of the Hudson Valley keeper to score the game winner.

The Hornets run their record to 6-3 in Region III and will host the Erie Kats next Saturday at 1:00 P.M.
