Three Players Advance After Day One In Mercer Tournament

The SUNY Broome Hornets are competing in the three day Mercer Invitational Tennis Tournament in West Windsor, New Jersey this weekend.  


Singles:

1. Quarterfinal: Caroline Kawula (Oxford CC) def. Daji O'Geen 6-1 6-0
2. Quarterfinal: Maria Mott (Broome) def. Nicole Andreacchio (Rowan CC)
3. Quaterfinal: Molly Secord (Broome) def. Mia Forbes (Rowan CC) 6-2 4-6 (10-7)
4. Quaterfinal: Samantha Tassey (Broome) def. Allyson Hing (Mercer CC) 6-2 6-4
5. Quarterfinal: Maia Sepulveda (Fash. Inst of Tech) def. Olivia Borihane (Broome) 6-1 6-0

Doubles:

2. Quarterfinal: Lianne Anderson/Kelsey Sattler (Oxford) def. Secord/Tassey (Broome) 6-1 6-1
3. Quarterfinal: Brittany Angieri/Caroline Mandaro (Suffolk CC) def. Borihane/Senat 6-1 6-2

Broome's number two singles player, Mott dominated her opponent in both sets to earn her victory today and advance to the semifinal tomorrow.  Secord bounced back to win the third set match tie break after dropping the second set 6-4. Tassey battled hard to win her match in two sets.  She was down 3-2 in the second and came back to win 6-4.

O'Geen and Mott will play their first doubles match tomorrow and Senat will play her first singles match.
