Tennis Team Ends Regular Season On A High Note

The Hornets defeated Herkimer 7-2 at home on Wednesday to finish up the regular season with a record of 7-1.  Shyanne Daye (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) defeated her opponent at No.1 singles 6-1, 6-0, to improve her singles record to 5-3 for the season.  At No.3 Chelsea Deuel (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) finished the season with a 7-1 singles record as did No.5 Kara Shanks (Erie, PA/McDowell).  No.4 Emily Whitaker (Vestal, NY/Vestal), and No.6 Mollie Elder (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks) all finished the season with a 6-2 singles record.  Madison Murphy (Clay, NY/Cicero-North) finished the season with a 6-1 singles record.  Deuel and Whitaker both were undefeated for the season in doubles 8-0 and 7-0 respectively.

The Hornets will compete for the Region III title in Syracuse, NY at Drumlins Tennis Center this weekend, the winner will compete in the NJCAA National Championships in Peachtree City, GA.
