Congratulations to Shyanne Daye, who received the 2017-2018 Scholar Athlete Award from the State University of New York. She is one of 84 recipients from across the state to receive the award, which recognizes outstanding academic excellence and athletic achievement.

To be considered for this award, student athletes were nominated by their campus athletic director. Nominees' academic credentials and athletic achievements were then reviewed by a panel of athletic directors from across SUNY system and members of the SUNY provost's office.

A freshman, Shyanne is part of the SUNY Broome women's tennis team, which again captured Region III championship title on October 7th. During the Region III championship in Syracuse, Daye was a finalist at No.1 singles and No. 1 doubles, earning Broome 4 points over the Region III weekend. The Hornets tied for fifth place at the 2017 NJCAA Tennis Championships in Peachtree City, Ga.

A graduate of Susquehanna Valley High School, Shyanne is also a Presidential Honors Scholar. Recipients of the full-tuition scholarship were in the top 10 percent of their high school graduating class.
