Hornets Take Three Matches At Adirondack POD

The Hornets defeated North Country CC, Hudson Valley CC and SUNY Adirondack on Saturday in a Region III POD in Queensbury. 

The first match of the day against Hudson Valley was a 3-0 sweep by set scores 25-16, 25-14 and 25-11.  Mckenzi Donahue, Paige Taylor and Rayna Pouliot contributed 6 kills each.  Brianna Kosinski had 27 assists, Alyssa Hovey had 11 digs and Hannah Brown had 3 aces.

Broome followed up with another 3-0 sweep by set scores of 25-12, 25-11 and 25-6 against North Country CC.  The Hornets posted a season high hitting percentage of .392.  Donahue led with 10 kills, Kosinski had 33 assists and Taylor had 6 aces.

The last match of the day was a come from behind win against the host team, SUNY Adirondack.  Broome dropped the first two sets 25-21 and 26-24 before coming back to win the next two 25-15 and 25-16 to force a fifth set deciding match.  In the fifth set, the Hornets started off with a 4-8 deficit before coming back to take the final set 24-22.  Kosinski had 44 assists, Taylor led with 15 kills while Mackinzie Mee chipped in with 12 kills.  Broome had five players post double digit digs led by Hovey with 31, Donahue with 30, Jessica Dye with 23, Pouliot with 21 and Kosinski with 20.  Taylor also had 9 blocks.

Broome returns to the West Gym this Wednesday for a match against Finger Lakes CC starting at 6:00 P.M.
