Volleyball Goes 2-1 In Jamestown POD

Broome traveled to Jamestown on Saturday and came home with wins against Erie CC and Niagara County CC before falling to Jamestown CC in the Region III POD.

The first match was a five set win over Erie with set scores 25-27, 25-22, 25-21, 23-25, 15-8. Mackinzie Mee had 21 kills, Brianna Kosinski had 50 assists and Mckenzi Donahue had 14 kills, 2 aces, and 34 digs.  Alyssa Hovey had 28 digs and Paige Taylor contributed 9 blocks.

The second match was a straight set win over Niagara with set scores of 25-14, 25-12, 25-5.  Taylor had 8 kills on 11 attempts for a season high hitting percentage of .727 and she also had 8 blocks.  Kosinski had 22 assists and 4 aces, Hovey had 15 digs and Jessica Dye had 13.

The final match of the day was a five set battle against the 5th ranked team in the Nation, Jamestown Community College.  The host team won by set scores of 25-15, 17-25, 25-23, 20-25, 5-15.  Donahue led the offense with 12 kills while Taylor and Hannah Brown added 9 a piece.  Kosinski had 39 assists, 19 digs and 2 aces.  Brown added 4 blocks while Dye led the defense with 30 digs, Hovey chipped in with 28, Donahue had 20, and Rayna Pouliot had 13. 

Broome will take a 16-2 overall record to the Cara Bryant Tournament, hosted by Onondaga CC, this Friday and Saturday.
