Volleyball Defeats Host Team In Finals

Volleyball won the Jefferson CC Tournament on Saturday and improved their record on the season to 7-1. 

During tournament pool play, the Hornets dropped their first match against Jefferson 2-0 with set scores of 25-27, 18-25.  Broome went on to beat Mohawk Valley 2-0 with set scores of 25-8, 25-21, and Herkimer 2-0 with set scores of 25-19, 25-18.  Broome ended pool play seeded second, and was placed in pool "B".

During a cross over semi-final match, Broome took on the first seed from pool "A", Monroe CC.  The Hornets battled through two tight sets to win 2-0 with set scores of 30-28, 25-22 to advance to the final where they faced the host team, Jefferson for the second time during the day.  During the championship match, Broome took the first 26-24 and then dropped the second set 25-23.  The match went to a deciding set where the Hornets were victorious 15-10.

Savannah Davis led statistical categories on the day with 45 kills and 54 digs.  Brianna Kosinski totaled 13 aces and 99 assists.  Madison Hadfield and Alexandra Bachura contributed 10 blocks each on the day.

Broome will host Tompkins Cortland CC on Wednesday in the West Gym at 6:00 P.M.
