Broome traveled to Syracuse on Saturday for the first POD of their season and finished the day 2-1.
The first match of the day was a straight set win over Cayuga with set scores of 25-10, 25-8, 25-11. The Hornets had a hitting percentage of .305 and a total of 17 aces during the match. Savannah Davis had 12 kills and Macayla Greco had 7. Brianna Kosinski totaled 27 assists and 7 aces, and Jessica Dye and Kylee Cunningham led the defense with 10 digs a piece.
The second match of the day was another straight set win over the host team with set scores 25-12, 25-10, 25-13. During the first set Broome totaled 12 kills, 0 hitting errors on 27 attempts for a hitting percentage of .444. Davis, Cunningham, and Greco each contributed 7 kills apiece. Madison Hadfield has a season high performance with 10 blocks and 5 kills, 0 errors on 7 attempts for a hitting percentage of .777. Kosinski had 23 assists and 3 aces and Davis had 13 digs while Kosinski had 11.
The last match of the day was a battle against Jefferson with Broome coming up short, losing 3-1. After dropping the first two sets 25-23 and 25-14, the Hornets made a push to win the third set 25-22 to force a fourth set only to fall to the Cannoneers 25-18. Davis had 12 kills while Cunningham and Greco added 8 apiece. Kosinski totaled 33 assists and Davis led with 4 aces. Five Broome players had double digit digs, Davis led with 33 digs, while Cunningham, Dye, and Kosinski has 21 digs a piece. Cuozzo added 13 digs and Alexandra Bachura had 7 blocks.
Broome is now 10-2 on the season and will face Jefferson CC this Wednesday at 6:00 P.M. in a MSAC matchup in the West Gym.
