Broome picked up a win in their home opener on Saturday, defeating North Country CC 81-78, and followed that with another win on Sunday, besting Clinton CC, 87-81.  The game was close throughout the first half, as the lead changed hands multiple times.  North Country held  a 37-34 halftime lead.  The Hornets team defense to start the second half led them on a run that would result in a 13 point lead with under ten minutes to play.  The Saints made a late run to cut the lead to 78-76 with just under 2 minutes remaining but a Christian Sage 3-pointer, assisted by Fidel Brock, would give Broome a 5 point cushion with 50 seconds to play.  Defensive stops, and a key block and rebound by Shane Callaway preserved the win for the Hornets.  Sage finished the game with 31 points including 8 treys, both collegiate highs.  Brock dished out 6 assists to go with his 11 points and 2 steals, Charles Jackson had his second straight double-double with 18 points and 10 boards, and Ke'Juan Wright was active on both ends with 7 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals.

On Sunday a slow start saw the Hornets behind early on before Broome's reserves came in to help build a lead at halftime that they would not give up.  Noah Economides and Ke'Juan Wright, both came off the bench and hit three 3's each, 4 of which were assisted by another reserve, Zachary Porter.  Economides finished with a collegiate high 14 points and added 3 steals. Wright finished with 9 points and 5 rebounds.  The Hornets balanced scoring attack saw 5 players score in double figures, led by two 15-point scorers. Charles Jackson added 9 rebounds to his total, and Brock also hit three 3's on the way to his total.  Sage added 11 points on 8-10 shooting from the FT line, to go along with 5 rebounds and 2 assists and Travis Kraack contributed 10 points, on 6-6 from the line and 4 boards.  All Hornet players scored against the Cougars with Callaway and Kevin Ware both adding 4 points. Callaway also added 10 rebounds and 4 blocks.

Broome improved to 3-3 overall; 3-0 in Region III and will host Schenectady County CC in a Region III matchup scheduled for a 6:00 P.M. tip off this Wednesday.
