Men Continue To Break School Records

Cortland Classic

Track & Field continued to break school records at the Cortland Upstate Alternative meet on Saturday in Cortland. Eleven school records were broken on the men's side and six were broken on the women's side over the weekend. Dandre James (Triple Jump) and Conner Smith (1500m) both qualified for Nationals. Claudia Chermak (1500m), Sydney Velez Mattiace (100m), Aja Jackson (800m), Gianna Lawrence (long jump) and the women's 4x400m relay all qualified for Nationals. 

MEN:

 

Men's 4x100 was only 2s off national qualifier mark, and broke the school record set last week at Vassar
Smith qualified for nationals in the 1500m with a 4.12.91 and broke the school record in that distance
Thomas Eccleston lowered his own school record (set last week) in the 110m hurdles with a time of 17.20
Benjamin Dizer set the school record in the 400m with a time of 54.93
James broke the school record in the 100m with a time of 11.91
Dizer set the school record in the 200m with a 24.47 and missed a national qualifier by about 1s. 
Men's 4x400m relay set a school record with 4:06.22 (Oklla, Dizer, Eric DeHart, Daniel Lamb)
Yaman Oklla missed a national qualifier mark by 1cm, but set the school record in the shot put with an 11.55m throw
Eccleston set a school record in the high jump with a 1.68 meter jump (narrowly missing national qualifier mark with a 1.78)
James broke the school record in the long jump with a jump of 5.82M
James broke the school record in the triple jump and qualified for Nationals with a 12.92M jump. 
 
WOMEN:
 
Women's 4x100 was only 1s away from Mohawk Valley and Herkimer, and broke the school record set last week at Vassar 
Chermack qualified for nationals in the 1500m with a 5:36.97
Lawrence broke Megan Cardens 100m hurdle record with a time of 17.45
Velez Mattiace qualified for nationals in the 100m Hurdles with a time of 19.04
Mariella Michitti broke her own school record last week in the 400m run with a time of 1:04.68
Jackson broke the school record and qualified for nationals in the 800m with a time of 2:33.00
Michitti broke the school record in the 200 with a 29.28
Women's 4x400m relay broke last years school record, and qualified with nationals with a time of 4.33.89 (Jackson, Chermak, Michitti, Mel Carden)
Lawrence qualified for Nationals in the long jump with a 4.72M jump as did Melissa Carden with a 5.02Jump
