The women's basketball team saw all five starters in double digits Wednesday night on their way to a 69-56 win over Mohawk Valley CC in a Region III contest played in the Baldwin Gym. The Hornets took a 14-10 lead after the first quarter led by Terricka Glisson's 6 points. The second quarter started out slow with neither team able to get a bucket and the score stuck at 20-15 for a little over three minutes in favor of the host team. Broome was able to get some separation in the latter part of the quarter and go into the half with a 32-21 advantage. The Hornets came out strong in the third, outscoring the Hawks 25-16 despite 10 points from Mohawk's Lonnie Wadsworth and headed into the last quarter up 57-37. Mohawk was able to close the gap in the last quarter but never came closer than the final 13 point margin.

Dana Stepp had a huge night for Broome, notching a triple-double with 13 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists to go along with her 6 steals. Brooke Ladd had a big night as well, posting a double-double with 15 points and 12 boards to go with her 3 steals. Ava Eichler led Broome with 17 points and added 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and a block to her lines. Gwendolyn Payne added 14 points and 5 boards in her first start of the season and Glisson ended up with 10 points, 4 rebounds and a couple of steals.

Broome, ranked 14th in the latest NJCAA's DIII Women's Basketball Rankings, moved to 4-1 on the year and will travel to SUNY ADK on Saturday for a 1:00 P.M. Region III game.
