Coach Collins And Five Hockey Players Earn All-Region Honors

Hockey coach Patrick Collins and five members of the hockey team earned NJCAA Region III honors despite missing the post season by one game.  Coach Collins won his third Coach of the Year award in his eighth and final season as head coach at Broome.  Freshman Joakim Axen (Onsala, Sweeden) and Alec Morris(Olive Branch, MS) earned All-Rookie team honors.  Axen started 12 games in goal for the Hornets going 4-8 with 3.85 goals against average and a .908 save percentage.  Morris, a defenseman had 6 goals and 7 assists for 13 points.  Second year players Scott Boyd (Arrowwood, AB) and Connor Lofgren(Ithaca, NY) earned second team honors.  Boyd Started 8 games in goal going 6-2 with 3.28 goals against average and a .891 save percentage.  Lofgren, the hornets leading scorer for the past 2 seasons recorded 9 goals and 14 assists for 23 points.  Assistant Captain Drew Petersonwas named first team All-Region, recording 8 goals and 5 assists for 13 points as a defenseman on the season.  Peterson earned second team and All-Rookie team honors last season.
