The women's tennis team improved to 8-0 today with their win over SUNY Adirondack at the SUNY Broome Tennis Courts.
Singles:
- Lauren Demetreus (ACC) def. Maria Mott (Vestal, NY/Vestal) 6-4, 6-3
- Molly Secord (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) def. Katie Müller (ACC) 7-5, 7-5
- Leigh Ann Hiser (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley)) def. Ashley Wilson (ACC) 6-0, 6-1
- Jill Burns (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) def. Elana Durrick (ACC) 6-0, 6-0
- Madison Tassey (Binghamton, NY/Johnson City)) def. Teresa Costigan (ACC) 6-2, 6-0
- Madison Brennan (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy) def. Anita Serna (ACC) 6-0, 6-1
Doubles:
- Mott/Second (Broome) def. Demetrius/Müller (ACC) 8-5
- Burns/Tassey (Broome) def. Wilson/Derrick (ACC) 8-1
- Hiser/Brennan (Broome) def. Costigan/Serna (ACC) 8-1
Mott put up a fight against the number one player in Region III, Lauren Demetreus, but lost in the end 6-4, 6-3. Secord won a close match at 2nd singles defeating 7-5, 7-5 bumping her singles record up to 7-1 on the season. Hiser (6-0), Burns (7-0) and Tassey (8-0) are all still undefeated in singles this year. The Hornets are an impressive 18-1 in doubles play for the season.
The Hornets are home again this Tuesday at 4:00 P.M. for a match against SUNY Delhi.
