The men's track & field team attended the Cortland Upstate Alternative meet at SUNY Cortland this weekend and compiled many noteworthy results.
David Akulis continued his early-season success in the high jump, coming in at 1.82 meters and receiving 2nd place overall in the event. Thomas Eccleston took 5th place overall in the high jump with 1.70 meters. He also was also the 7th place finisher in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.88 seconds.
Yuri Brich took 4th place in the 100 meter dash with 12.2 seconds. Nathaniel Wojcik also ran the 100 meter dash and clocked in at a time of 12.53 seconds, while Brandon Hirst completed the event in 12.86 seconds.
Cole Farley ran the 800 meter run in a time of 2:19.06. Connor Vredenburgh came in 4th in the javelin throw with 31.94 meters while John Miller took 7th place in the event with a distance of 24.98 meters.
The highlight of the invitational was the men's performance in the 4x100 meter relay. A team comprised of Brich, Hirst, Dandre James, and Wojcik took 3rd place in the event with a time of 46.94 seconds. This result qualified the group for both the NJCAA Region III Championship meet and the NJCAA National Championship meet. It also set the school record for the event.
The team will return to Cortland this upcoming weekend for the Cortland Classic on the 19th and 20th.
