This Week In Broome Hockey

The season is underway and the Hornets are off to a 0-3-0 start.  However, with only 5 returners and a brand new coaching staff, growing pains are to be expected and as we learned last year, it is not how you start, but how you finish. The Hornets have an exciting week over the next 7 days with 3 games on tap including the second home game of the season as the Hornets compete for the President's Cup against cross town rival the Binghamton University Bearcats.

Binghamton University and SUNY Broome have been rivals since 1975.The winner will take home the coveted Presidents Cup trophy. This will be the third time these two teams have played each other in the Presidents Cup. BU took home the trophy the last two games, will this be the Hornets year to take it back? With BU off to a 1-7-0 start in the ACHA, now would be a great time for the Hornets to find their game. Game begins at 7pm at the SUNY Broome ice center.

After Thursday, Broome will load up to take on the 2 time Division winners the Erie Kats. After a hot 3-1-0 start thus far and a 1-1 record at Harborcenter, the Kats will be looking to jump on the Hornets as they have done the past two years. In  their 4 games thus far Erie has amassed 25 goals and it will be up to the Hornets to keep that number low. Puck drop will take place in Buffalo at 2:15 PM on Saturday.

A week from today the Hornets will take on the Elmira JV Eagles in Elmira. The second stop on the three game road trip takes the Hornets to the domes. Elmira consistently puts out a solid product and will attempt to do so again. The Hornets will attempt to take this first of two meetings with the Eagles as the month of November will continue to roll on.  Game time is 7:45 p.m. at the Elmira Domes.
