Baseball Swept In Weekend Series

The baseball team was swept on Saturday and Sunday by Onondaga CC in a Region III matchup played in Syracuse. In game one on Saturday the Lazers defeated the Hornets by a score of 12-4. Kyle Balmer (Maine, NY/Maine-Endwell) collected four hits in the defeat, he singled in the first, homered in the third, singled in the fifth, and singled in the seventh. Christopher Puzakulics (Vestal, NY/Vestal) took the loss for Broome. He pitched four innings, giving up ten runs, four hits, and striking out one. 

In game two, the Hornets fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 14-3 loss to the host team. Matthew Bowman (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) took the loss for the visitors, surrendering ten runs, seven hits, and striking out six in three innings. Justin Perez (Vestal, NY/Vestal), Austin Beck (Vestal, NY/Vestal), Balmer and Brady Harrington (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) each managed one hit in the loss.

On Sunday the Hornets made some headway but it wasn't enough to overcome the Lazers in the second doubleheader in as many days. Game one was a 9-3 decision in favor of Onondaga. Game two saw the host team get on the board with one run in the bottom of the first inning before Broome would tie it in the top of the second inning. Onondaga answered back with another run in the bottom of the second inning for a 2-1 lead that hold till the end of the game.

Broome will head to Sanborn, NY this Tuesday for a doubleheader against Niagara County CC with game one scheduled to start at 2:00 P.M.
