Women's Track & Field Places 6th at Region 3 Championships

Ava Schiff 1st Place in Triple Jump

The women's track & field team placed 6th overall with 27.5 points at the NJCAA Region 3 Championships on Saturday.

The team collaborated to earn multiple top-six finishes and set multiple personal records, headlined by Ava Schiff taking home 1st place in the triple jump. 

Schiff went a distance of 9.79 meters on the triple jump, earning 1st place and setting a personal record in the event, and earning a spot on the First Team All-Region. Schiff also took 5th place in the shot put with 8.49 meters, 6th place in the long jump with 3.95 meters, and 6th place in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 19.69 seconds. She also completed the 100 meter dash in 15.18 seconds. 

Riley Precourt snagged two top-six finishes of her own, coming in at 6th place in the javelin with 17.83 meters and at 6th place in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:13.59. Precourt also reached 3.50 meters in the long jump. All three results set personal records for Precourt.

Finally, Aja Jackson took 3rd place in both of the events in which she competed. She earned 3rd place in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 5:19.87 and 3rd place in the 200 meter run with a time of 28.83 seconds. 

Jackson will head to the National meet this weekend to compete in the 5,000 meter and 10,000 meter races. Schiff will compete in the triple jump, the long jump, the 110 meter hurdles, and the shot put. 

The 2024 NJCAA Division 3 Track & Field Outdoor National Championships are hosted by Mohawk Valley CC.
