The softball team visited the Onondaga Lazers on Sunday for a doubleheader and lost both games.

The Hornets suffered both defeats in five innings, dropping game one 11-1 and game two 15-0.

Broome managed three hits in the first game of the day. Hannah Aton collected one of them, going 1-3 with a stolen base and a run scored. Alana Espinoza had another hit, and Abigail Rice had the third Broome hit. Makaeyla Ailport had an RBI groundout to bring in the lone run.

Espinoza pitched very well for the Hornets despite the score. She allowed just one earned run over 4.0 innings and struck out seven hitters while walking just three.

In game two of the doubleheader, Aton collected a single for the only hit that the Hornets would pick up in the contest. Ailport drew two walks, however, and stole two bases.

Espinoza was again on the mound for Broome, pitching 4.2 innings, and Sarah Espe came in as a reliever to record the final out.

After dropping two games to Onondaga, Broome moves to 3-17 on the season. Two matchups are left for the Hornets in the regular season, a doubleheader at home on Thursday against Erie CC, and a doubleheader on the road on Saturday against Monroe CC.
