Katelynn Youngs from Sidney High School has signed a letter of intent to join the SUNY Broome softball program.
Youngs is the first student-athlete to sign a LOI to play for the program's new head coach, Cara Martin.
A 3x 2nd Team MAC All-Star, Youngs played five years on the Sidney varsity softball team and was routinely recognized as a NYSPHSAA scholar athlete.
In her five-year career, Youngs compiled a batting average of .359; a slugging percentage of .769; an on-base + slugging percentage (OPS) of .979; and a fielding percentage of .750 while being at the center of the action in primarily serving as Sidney's shortstop. She also added a remarkable stolen base success rate of 100%, swiping the bag safely on every one of her career stolen base attempts.
Youngs was a team captain for Sidney in the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
