The men's basketball team dropped their home opener to Northampton CC 80-45 on Thursday night in the Baldwin Gymnasium. The Hornets played tough with the Spartans early in the contest, with 11 minutes left in the half the score was 16-14. The experience and the athleticism of Northampton, currently ranked 13th in the latest NJCAA DIII poll, took over for the remainder of the half and a 42-20 halftime lead. The second half saw some improvement for the Hornets but not enough to close the 22 point gap the Spartans held at the end of the first.

Andrew Charles, the 6'3 sophomore forward for the Hornets, had a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 50% from the field. Sophomore guard Seth Roselle, Jr. added 10 points while shooting 50% from the 3 point line and applying sound ball pressure on the visiting guards.

Broome will spend the next week regrouping before heading to Corning CC next Thursday for a 7:00 P.M. tipoff against the Red Barons.
