Chermak To Run In NJCAA XC National Championships Saturday

Broome XC runner in action
Joseph Chermak

Men's cross country runner Joseph Chermak will compete in the NJCAA XC Nationals meet this Saturday.

The race will be held at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Alabama at 12:00 p.m.

Chermak was the leading runner for the Hornets this year as a Freshman. He finished 7th overall in the NJCAA Region III XC Championships race, with a time of 30:01.1, helping lead Broome to a 4th place Regional finish. That time for Chermak was a personal best for the season, so he is in prime position heading into the National Championship meet, coming off perhaps his strongest race of the year.

Coach Tom Carter is excited for Chermak to take in the moment and experience the competition at the National Championships. After so much success thus far in his Freshman season, the hope is that an opportunity to compete against the best NJCAA Division III runners in the country will show Chermak how good he is now and push him to take it to an even higher level next year in his Sophomore season, only building off of his early success as a Hornet.

The excitement and the confidence is high in Chermak to see what kind of performance he can turn in this weekend. Good luck Joseph!
