The softball team fell to the NJCAA's 3rd ranked Herkimer College on Monday afternoon at BAGSAI by scores of 11-3 and 10-2.

Costly errors by the Hornets and timely hitting by the Generals proved to be one of the deciding factors in the contest. Brianna Ramstine hit her first collegiate home run in the game, the lefty hit a solo shot to deep center. Leah Carlini went 2-3 in game one to pace Broome including a double and Brooke Ladd picked up the other Broome hit. Michaela Ponticello had the big bat for the Generals, the right fielder drove in 4 runs by way of a home run and a double. Keira Warwick went three innings and took the loss, the Chenango Valley grad gave up 5 hits, 4 earned runs and struck out two.

Game two of the doubleheader saw the fielding of Broome improve but the bats were still hot for Herkimer, led by shortstop Kassandra Granobles' 3 RBIs. The Hornets picked up 4 hits in the game, all singles, one each by Carlini, Warwick, Jacqualine Bigelow and Marrissa Rogers. Jenna Gaisford went all five innings in the circle and picked up 8 strike outs in the contest.

Broome is right back at it Tuesday at BAGSAI with another doubleheader, this one against Cayuga CC, first pitch scheduled for 3:00 P.M.
