Softball Falls At BAGSAI

Sliding into second
B Ramstine

The Hornets dropped both games of their doubleheader at BAGSAI Monday afternoon to Jefferson CC by scores of 14-5 and 13-5.

A big fourth inning doomed the Hornets, the Cannoneers plated eight runs in the top of the fourth to put the game out of reach for the host team. Jacqualine Bigelow had two of the Hornets five hits, one of them a two-bagger. Brooke Ladd aslo had a double in the contest followed by singles off the bats of Brianna Ramstine and Marrissa Rogers. Jenna Gaisford threw four innings and gave up eleven runs on nine hits for the loss and Kaitlyn Andrews came in for one inning of relief and gave up three runs on three hits.

Game two also went the way of the Cannoneers, scoring in all but the first inning. Both teams were tied up at the completion of three innings of play, 5-5, before Jefferson would plate eight more runs over the next three frames and Broome would plate none. Again, Broome would collect five hits in the game with two of them coming from Rogers. Bigelow hit the ball hard for the only Broome double and Ramstine and Keira Warwick both found first base safely. Warwick went the distance in the circle and gave up thirteen runs on twelve hits for the loss.
