Women Fall To Nationally Ranked Team

Broome came up short on Thursday evening in the Baldwin Gymnasium to the NJCAA's 8th ranked Onondaga CC by a score of 65-58. The Hornets played the Lazers to a 14-14 tie after the first quarter but gave the visitors a nine point halftime lead, 33-24. The third quarter again saw both teams play to a tie, this time it was 15-15. Broome pulled within two late in the final frame but two wide open, back-to-back, three pointers by Macey DeOrdio along with a couple free throws sealed the seven point win for the Lazers. 

Ava Eichler led all scorers with 28 points and added 8 rebounds to her totals. Gwendolyn Payne was the only other Hornet to reach double digits with 10 points. Michelle Mercado turned in a solid performance with 7 points, 8 assists, 5 boards and 3 steals while Sophia Dutra came off the bench for 8 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks. Ghia Medovich chipped in with 5 points and 7 rebounds. The Hornets drop to 2-2 overall; 1-1 MSAC while the Lazers improve to 4-1 overall: 3-0 MSAC.

Broome returns to the hardwood after the Thanksgiving break to take on Finger Lakes CC in Canandaigua at 5:30 P.M. on Tuesday, November 29th.
