The women's soccer team opened up the 2022 season with a 3-0 road win in Watertown on Saturday against Jefferson CC. The first half was a back and forth affair with the Cannoneers for the first 20 minutes until Arianna Michitti pushed a thru ball to Avery Kenyon who one touched it to Ella Stafford for the Hornets first goal at the 20:22 mark. Almost twenty minutes A. Michitti beat two defenders at the top of the box and delivered a precise ball into the lower net for a 2-0 halftime advantage.

The Hornets controlled the match in the second half with precision passing and great pressure on Cannoneers while maintaining possession for large portions of the half.  In the 50th minute A. Michitti got her brace when she finished a cross from Stafford. The Hornets maintained control for the balance of the half to secure their Victory.

Carly Hein tended the net and got credit for her first collegiate win. The defense was impressive, allowing only three shots on goal and no serious chances.

The Hornets are home this Wednesday at Alumni Field for a 1:00 P.M. match against Niagara County CC.
