SUNY Broome looked like the dominant team from the match's opening minutes, jumping out to an 8-0 lead at halftime. The Hornets controlled possession throughout the match, limiting the Lakers to just one shot in the contest.
Seven different Hornets scored a goal in the shutout win, including Adrianna Finta and Paisley Jeziorksi who each had a hat trick. The duo traded scores for SUNY Broome's first four goals of the match.
Finta opened up the scoring in the seventh minute. Jeziorski doubled the lead less than a minute later, finishing a cross from Katelynn DuBois. SUNY Broome kept the momentum rolling with another goal from Finta in the 16th minute and another goal from Jeziorski just over a minute later, making it four Hornet goals in less than 17 minutes of play.
Jeziorski assisted DuBois for Broome's fifth goal in the 24th minute, and then completed her hat trick in the 29th minute off a deflection from Finta. Finta responded by completing her own hat trick in the 32nd minute as the duo continued to feed off one another in dominant fashion.
Zephora Brouillette added an eighth Hornet goal just before halftime on a cross from Jeziorski.
SUNY Broome again scored early in the second half as Paige Weaver scored in the 48th minute off a pass from Riley McNamara. Katie Sanford then found the back of the net in the 63rd minute with a strong strike. Juliana Turner capped the scoring in the 65th minute when she crashed the net to finish a loose ball.
Hornets' goalkeeper Madeline Hyzer notched her first shutout of the season while splitting time in goal with Brouillette, who recorded one save. SUNY Broome outshot Finger Lakes 25-1 in the commanding win.
The Hornets will look to build on the momentum as they host Mohawk Valley CC on Wednesday, September 24 at 4:00 p.m.
