The matchup represented the Hornets' final home game of the season. Before kickoff, SUNY Broome honored its six sophomores for their contributions to the program: Madeline Hyzer, Juliana Turner, Zephora Brouillette, Paige Weaver, Grace Deyo, and Emelinne Corrington.
SUNY ESF presented a challenge for SUNY Broome from the opening whistle, showcasing speed and experience in applying heavy pressure in the attacking third. SUNY Broome's back line and goalkeeper stood firm, absorbing wave after wave of chances. The Mighty Oaks outshot the Hornets 21-2, but SUNY Broome's defensive organization proved decisive in keeping the match level.
Hornets' keeper Hyzer delivered a standout performance, recording 13 saves, including several 1v1 stops and full extension dives, earning a clean sheet. While SUNY Broome generated a few dangerous opportunities, they were unable to find the back of the net.
Despite facing significant offensive pressure, the Hornets showed composure, discipline, and resilience throughout the match. Their ability to stay organized defensively and compete until the final whistle was a testament to their commitment as a team.
