Men's Basketball Falls To Nationally Ranked Team

The men's basketball team fell to nationally ranked Herkimer County CC 73-62 Saturday afternoon in the Baldwin Gym. The Hornets found themselves behind by 12 at the half to the Generals and could not overcome the lead despite getting it to 3 points late in the second half. Jovanni Chatham (Brooklyn, NY/Christ the King) led the way for SUNY Broome with 28 points, 4 assists and 2 critical steals that came late in the game. They also received healthy contributions from Jordan Spencer (Mount Vernon, NY/Taft) with 17 points and 5 rebounds and Anthony Guerrero (Peekskill, NY/Peekskill) 7 points and 13 rebounds. The majority of the second half hovered around a 10 point lead for the Generals until about the 6 minute mark when the Hornets accelerated their defensive play. Converting off of steals and forced turnovers, Broome clawed their way back to a 3 point deficit with two minutes remaining in the game but were unable to surpass the Generals leading to the final score of 73-62.

The Hornets play next on Wednesday, December 10th against the Mohawk Valley CC Hawks at 8 pm in the Baldwin Gymnasium.
